1. Improve Your Diet
According to Dr. Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, a New York-based dermatologist, inadequate nutrition can lead to dandruff. “High-carb diets can result in the buildup of glycogen in the skin, which yeast feeds on.
” Dr. Zeichner admits: “Although there’s little data, the same foods that develop acne may exacerbate dandruff.” Sugary foods and dairy animate the sebaceous glands, which generate more oil on the skin. So, sadly, you might need to try laying off the carbs and sugars if you’re likely to dandruff.
2. Start Washing Your Hair

4. Try a Hot-Oil Mask
“Oil-based remedies can serve to balance some of the scalp’s excessive oil production,” says Dr. Weiser. “Applying oils to the scalp will help draw oils from it and eliminate them.
It’s the famous law of attraction, where corresponding elements attract each other.” You can try heating the only oil celebrities are unafraid of, coconut oil, in a microwave and lightly applying it to your head. Be careful not to make the oil too hot, as performing this increases the risk of burning your scalp.
5. Use Apple-Cider Vinegar Sparingly
Dr Internet recommends using apple cider vinegar as a home remedy for many forms and a base for many outcomes, among them a toner, a hot-water help, and a cure for dandruff. Dermatologists are a bit divided on this.
Dr Zeichner says it could likely help: “Apple-cider vinegar has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory traits to lower levels of yeast on the skin and calm inflammation.” But Dr Weiser says, “I do not frequently support the use of apple cider vinegar for dandruff,” as there are more efficient remedies available.
